With so many movies, books, etcetera, on the famous 1963 to 1967 battle between Ford/Shelby and Ferrari, it’s time to talk about what really happened and how that continues to influence people and the brands 60 years later. Join this esteemed panel of experts and those who lived through this epic battle for this very special Pebble Beach Classic Car Forum presented by Alliant Private Client.
Sue Callaway
Sue Callaway is an entrepreneur, award-winning journalist, automotive insider, and marketing pioneer. She founded Glovebox Media, a strategy and content shop that helps companies and individuals tell their passionate stories, and she has helped build brands for Time Inc., Wenner Media, and Hearst, and co-founded Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit. Her coverage of the auto industry, including the collector car world, has appeared in dozens of media outlets including Fortune, Robb Report, Rosso, Conde Nast Traveler, Town & Country, and on CNNMoney.com, CNN, and CBS’s The Early Show. Previously, Sue was EVP, Editorial Director at Edelman, handling content strategy and creation for global clients including Nissan, Infiniti, Datsun, and Bridgestone, among others. Sue was also the Senior Editor, Automotive, for Time Inc.—the first executive awarded that role—where she oversaw automotive industry coverage for the company’s 90-plus brands. And she was Director of Marketing for Ford’s Premiere Automotive Group, and later, VP and General Manager of Jaguar Cars NA. On the enthusiast side, Sue has done seat time in open-wheel race cars, sports cars, vintage cars, drag racers, and go-karts, and she has judged at numerous concours, including Pebble Beach. She also co-authored What Would Jackie Do? An Inspired Guide to Distinctive Living.
Aaron Shelby
Aaron Shelby has served since 2016 on the Board of Carroll Shelby International, the umbrella organization for the Shelby entities. In this role, he acts as a brand ambassador for Shelby and helps maintain the relationship with Ford Motor Company. He also manages the Shelby family’s timber business, JFS Timber Partners, in East Texas, and he is actively involved in charity work, serving on the Board of Directors of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Aaron was born and raised primarily in Dallas, Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Santa Clara University in 1994. Currently, Aaron’s serves as the DFW Area President at Prosperity Bank, where he oversees the bank’s Mortgage Operation and a Commercial Lending Group in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He previously worked with NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) and The Dallas Children’s Theater.
Gary Patterson
Gary Patterson is the President of Shelby American, Inc. As such, he oversees all manufacturing, sales, operations, distribution, and marketing worldwide. He is the longest-standing president in the company’s history, outside of founder Carroll Shelby, having taken on this role in 2016. Gary has been a key Shelby team member since 1996, serving as the Chief Test and Development driver at Shelby for many years prior to becoming President. He has been deeply involved in the creation and refinement of every Shelby vehicle since the company moved to Las Vegas, and he has also served as a factory team driver for Shelby American at many events during the past three decades. Gary Patterson also has been a key part of the open road racing scene. He helped with technical inspections at the Silver State Classic Challenge Open Road race, later serving on the Board of Directors and as Race Director, and in 2001, he helped found the Sandhills Open Road Challenge. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Gary and his wife Sarah own several key Shelby development vehicles that he helped create over the years, as well as his ’69 Mustang.
Winston Goodfellow
Winston Goodfellow is an award-winning writer, photographer and content creator who lives by the credo, "If you love what you do, how can it be considered work?" Since his childhood he has been passionate about four-wheeled creations that are fast and cool, most especially those from Italy. Over the past three-plus decades his words and photos have appeared in more than 60 publications on several continents, and he has authored 16 books and private commission monographs. His critically acclaimed Ferrari Hypercars was voted "Book of the Year" in the annual International Automotive Media Competition, and since the early 1980s he has interviewed many automotive designers, engineers, and drivers. He has advised some of the world's great collections, been a judge or chief class judge at many of the world's great concours, and has owned Ferraris, Maseratis, Isos, Lamborghinis, an Alfa Romeo, a Shelby and more. Drew Serb
Drew Serb fell in love with the Cobra when he heard the recognizable engine rev while he was in high school in the 1960s, and in the early ’70s he started his journey of restoration and dedication to this special car. Through the years he gained experience in Cobra repairs and amassed an enviable inventory of spare parts, artifacts, and memorabilia. Drew wanted to share these increasingly rare cars with the public and was able to transform his passion into a museum, founding and curating The Cobra Experience. The Cobra Experience has become a hub for enthusiasts and historians alike, showcasing untouched and meticulously restored vehicles, rare memorabilia, and interactive exhibits. His dedication ensures that the spirit of innovation and performance that defined Shelby American in the ’60s continues to resonate with visitors from around the world today.

Attendee expressly assumes all risks incidental to and associated with attendance at the Event. By virtue of attendance at the Event, Attendee acknowledges that they understand all risks incidental to and associated with their attendance, including but not limited to being struck by a golf cart or other vehicle and falls due to unevenness of terrain or surfaces, and hereby waives, releases and discharges PBC, any and all of its respective affiliated companies, and all employees, owners, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and/or volunteers associated with the Event (“Released Parties”), and agree to hold harmless the Released Parties, from any and all claims for damages for death, personal injury or property loss or damage including all costs and expenses, which result from Attendee’s attendance at the Event or participation in any related activities arranged, promoted and/or sponsored by the Released Parties, including, without limitation, those claims that arise as a result of the inherent risks associated with attending the Event, without limitation, (i) all claims for personal injuries, wrongful death or exposure to or contraction of COVID-19 or other communicable disease by the Attendee, any accompanying party, or other individuals exposed to COVID-19 by the Attendee of accompanying party; (ii) the application of any health and safety protocols to Attendee or any accompanying party and (iii) all claims based on the negligence of the Released Parties. Attendee further agrees this waiver, release and assumption of risk is binding on Attendee’s heirs and assigns.
Attendees may not photograph, film, tape, or aid in transmitting, in whole or part, any image or video of this event without the prior written consent of Pebble Beach Company (PBC). Unmanned aerial vehicles are expressly prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted.
